long-term mission and goals in cooperation with staff.
First Convening of the Conflict and Common Ground Advisory Council, December
7, 2005
Members of the University and surrounding Santa Clara County Community were
invited to participate in the formation of the Conflict and Common Ground
Advisory Council at a meeting held December 7, 2005. The
charge of the council, set by Dr. Eloise Stiglitz is:
To encourage the development of programs
and activities that will promote mediation, conflict resolution, and
constructive dialogue with a goal of
Improving the quality of our lives
Enhancing our community, and
Enriching our world
To promote the concepts and principles that underlie Conflict and Common
Ground as well as the activities that are developed by CCG and Mediation
Center. Our goal is to involve campus departments who can benefit from
as well as provide support for the programs and services offered by Conflict
and Common Ground and the Mediation Center. The Advisory Council serves
as the focal point, the common ground, so to speak, between the academic
program within Communication Studies, the Student Affairs Mediation Center,
and any campus programs promoting conflict resolution. The council will
include community groups and local government offices as well as the SJSU
campus units.
