Resources for Faculty & StaffThe following is a list of resources available to faculty and staff experiencing a conflict situation. If you don't see a resource that fits your needs, please call Conflict and Common Ground at (408) 924-1098 and we can help you figure out the right place to go to get your problem resolved. Disputes with Students or Student OrganizationsJudicial AffairsThe Office of Judicial Affairs handles any suspected violations of the Academic Integrity Policy, the Student Code of Conduct or the Student Organization Code of Conduct. OmbudsmanThe Ombudsman handles any grade grievances or student complaints of unfair treatment by a member of the faculty, staff or administration. The Ombudsman can help students, faculty or staff navigate university policies and procedures and the student grievance process. The Ombudsman also screens cases for the Student Fairness Committee Mediation CenterThe Mediation Center provides mediation or group facilitation services for students or student organizations experiencing interpersonal conflict with another student, non-student, roommate, friend, classmate, family member, landlord or a member of the faculty, staff or administration. Faculty or staff are welcome to request mediation or group facilitations for any disputes they may be having with a student or student organization. ADA AccomodationDisability Resource CenterAny disputes regarding disability accommodations should be directed to the Disability Resource Center. Workplace DisputesFacultyIf you are a faculty member experiencing a workplace dispute talk with your department chair about the incident, contact Faculty Affairs or contact your personnel representative in the Human Resources Services Group. StaffIf you are a staff member experiencing a workplace dispute talk with your supervisor or contact your personnel representative in the Human Resources Service Group. Training and DevelopmentWe provide workshops through the Center for Faculty Development & Support and the Human Resources Service Group that teach constructive communication and dispute resolution skills. Visit the events section for a list of upcoming trainings and workshops available to faculty and staff. Academic or administrative departments are also welcome to request workshops or presentations in conflict management and resolution designed specifically to fit their needs. Discrimination or Sexual HarassmentOffice of Equity and DiversityContact this office if you believe you have been discriminated against based on your race, religion, color, disability, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, pregnancy, national origin, ancestry, age, veteran status or believe you are being sexually harassed. Threat to Personal SafetyUniversity Police DepartmentIf you have been threatened or are in imminent danger call the University Police Department (408) 924-2222 or 4-2222 from any university phone. |
