ROSEVILLE, Calif. -- A San José State football player will have to serve two months in jail after prosecutors say he failed to complete an earlier sentence in a misdemeanor battery case.
Placer County prosecutors say Ryne "Ryno" Gonzalez was ordered Friday to serve 60 days in jail in a case dating back to 2005.
Prosecutors say Gonzalez punched a friend in the face during a confrontation.
After he was eventually convicted in 2008, a Placer County judge ordered Gonzalez to serve 45 days in jail.
But Gonzalez was allowed to serve a day or two at a time to fulfill his sentence.
When it was determined Gonzalez wasn't reporting as required, the judge ordered him to serve 60 consecutive days
The 22-year-old Gonzalez is scheduled to report to jail Dec. 17.
